Membership News
We are happy to announce that ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative, (ACDI MPC) based in the Philippines, is the latest member of Cooperative Housing International.
About ACDI
ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative serves members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other uniformed personnel. This includes active service members, retirees, reserved force members, and regular AFP and Philippine Coast Guard civilian employees and their dependents.
With more than 144 strategically located offices throughout the Philippines and an asset base of over 33 billion pesos, ACDI MC is the largest cooperative in the country. In 2018, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) (the regulatory body for cooperatives in the Philippines) awarded the Most Outstanding Cooperative in the large category in the National Capital Region of Manila to ACI MPC. The award highlights ACDI MPC’s sustainable growth and significant contributions to people empowerment, social development, and nation-building.
Additionally, ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative has consistently been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at promoting cooperative values and community development. The cooperative has a rich history of innovation and is now embarking on an ambitious journey aligned with national priorities and the dynamic real estate market.
ACDI Cooperative Township Development
Presently, ACDI MPC is expanding its services to address the national housing backlog in the Philippines, which is a crucial focus area of the current administration. Recognizing the need for affordable housing, ACDI MPC is committed to making a meaningful contribution to this monumental task. The cooperative strongly believes that cooperative living has the power to transform not only housing challenges but also to become a model for sustainable community development.
In response to the unprecedented growth and potential in the Philippine real estate sector, ACDI MPC is venturing into cooperative township development. It envisions creating thriving communities focusing on economic sustainability, social cohesion, and shared prosperity beyond the construction of houses.
To materialize this vision, ACDI MPC designated 10 hectares from its 68-hectare property in Ibaan, Batangas, Philippines for the development of a groundbreaking project – the Cooperative Township. This innovative concept reflects a commitment to pushing the boundaries of cooperative living and creating a blueprint for others to follow.
To help shape the Cooperative Township concept, ACDI MPC is working closely with the CDA. This partnership aims to create an ecosystem of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises owned and operated by the cooperative community. Although the project is still in the early stages, the direction is clear – to develop a sustainable, replicable, and scalable housing model to benefit communities nationwide.
Above all, the Cooperative Township project aims to provide affordable housing and access to basic products and services essential for a thriving community. ACDI MPC is leading this initiative, committed to empowering communities, fostering economic independence, and building a better future for members.
Cooperative Living
In summary, ACDI MPC’s Cooperative Township project is a testament to its dedication to community development. This innovative project not only addresses the housing backlog in Batangas but also sets a new standard for cooperative living that can be replicated and scaled throughout the Philippines. By joining CHI, ACDI MPC gains a platform to share its experiences, learn from global counterparts, and contribute to the international cooperative community.
